I played for a few minutes (I'm currently at work, hehe). Very nice, the game looks great and it's loads of fun. Best ten buck ever spent smile.gif

I've played like an hour, and I just wanted to say I enjoy it greatly so far!
I can't recall playing a game in such a weird setting since Sacrifice or Oddworld (or Tribe 8 if you count pen-and-paper games). You don't see that often these days, so that's very welcome. And the gameplay reminds me slightly of Dark Messiah, which is also great since I liked that too.
It will be interesting to see what you guys are going to do in the future!

Remarkably good things;
-Arguably the most graphically creative game ever made.
-Extremely good loading times (avg. 6 secounds for an entire level for me).
-Very polished, no bugs and just a small number of tiny things that could be improved. Very small things.
-Wonderful fighting system.
-Good AI.
-High-performance engine (OB Source) with great framerates running everything on max.
-Facinating game world with a creative storyline.
-Challange mode is always nice.
-Overall, very smooth animations.

Less good things;
-Incoherent storytelling, you can tell it's written by a programmer and not a screenwriter. You felt lost all the time, in a way.
-Voice acting varied between very good (Ghat, Father-Mother) and obviously being casted with programmers (Golem, Mercenary).
-The actual script wasn't always great, but generally it totally worked, and it peaked at times with some great lines.
-Some of the models and such were of a lower standard than most, but they were at the very least passable. A variation of acceptable and magnificent.
-Some sound effects were almost comical (e.g. Golem crushing the mercenary's head. That sound was like the 16kbs sound effect from HL1 when you smacked headcrabs or something.).

Final words: For the first commercially big game (that i know of) from a small indie studio i'd give it a 9.0/10 if i were a game reviewer. Keep up the good work! And congratulations on a bug-free game experience. It's rare these days, sadly. Keep that up and you will always grab free bonus points from reviewers.

Thanks for a great gaming experience!

After waiting since the first day of pre-sale for Zeno Clash's release, I am happy to say I BEAT THE GAME!! it took me 5 hours and about 30 minutes. i was stuck forever (almost 45 minutes) in the area where you fight the most amount of enemies (don't want to ruin it/give away hints).
This was a wonderful game. I loved the visuals. Colors were so vivid, and the creatures were perhaps the most unique things i have ever seen in a game ( lol i loved the whale-creature in the final conflict with Hunter). The voice acting was supreme!! I disagree with the previous post, as Hunter of the "poor" voices was one of my favorites. Of all the characters, I loved father-mother, rimat, and the bar maid.

I got lucky and by chance purchased Zeno Clash on steam for the first day pre-sale price, and I have to say I am glad I did. That ending was such a 5$ ending, I would have been irritated if I paid the full price only to beat the game so quickly and be left to want more. I really hope that Zeno Clash turns out to be a series (if it already was said to be so, I am unaware). Again, on the contrary to the previous post, I liked the plot (especially the way it was presented), aside from the ending, and the fact that Ghat's admiration of the Corwid wasn't elaborated on.

I found the most frustrating part to be the targeting system, as it often got in the way of dodging attacks, though it could have been my own failure to master the fighting system.

I did find a bug: If a fruit is on a crate near a restricted zone (usually one blocked off with unbreakable wood), and the crate is destroyed, the fruit often falls outside and into the zone so that it cannot be picked up. I found this to be very frustrating when my checkpoint saved a fruit in a restricted spot and i had to redo an area multiple times because my health was low. Maybe make it so the fruit cannot leave the zone the player cannot?

I know this isn't a formal/thought out criticism, but I hope its helpful.

The game is absolutely fantastic. The level of detail, the graphics the fighting... it's superb.

Thank you for this!

I thought everything was fine. To the one person talking about sound effects, the only time I noticed was when kicking people because it became repetitive.

This game was such an adventure and full of a lot of fun and difficulty. I felt like I was playing an RTS fighting game. My biggest question was, what happened at the end? I'd love for someone to e-mail me and tell me because I really had no clue. I don't wanna give anything away though.

@Guest
"-Extremely good loading times (avg. 6 secounds for an entire level for me)."

There were load times?

The only bad thing was the mission design, because basiclly you were just teleported from one fightscene to another, with no freedom at all. The rest was brilliant!

  Guest, Apr 23 2009, 02:52 AM

I found a bug:
If you get behind fathermother in the first fight, she is unable to turn around and you can punch him in the ass until her health is down.

Love the setting, love the game. Unexpectedly smooth and bug-free experience for me so far. Great job, Ace Team. May this be merely a seed of a fantastic games portfolio for your company.

Just Incredible! Many of true players were tired from the ordinary games which resemnle one another. THIS is what you have never seen ever! Art House with sychological traits! Thanks, guys for your hard work! I hope to see more of your works later! Just don't loose or sell your style to those who demand usual games! Good Luck!

Fantastic game ! Very good work !

When the sequel will be released ? smile.gif

The game was too short , levels were TOO LINEAR no freedom at all , weapons are strange , graphics are very good , NO MULTIPLAYER FAIL GAME , did i mention it was too short?
Overall a mediocre game . Story was very good but the lack of strangeness ebtween levels is stupid . You are TELEPORTED to another mission wich ruins the game's feel.
Don't buy it unless you love cool stories and nice gameplay's .

I enjoyed this game. The fighting is brutal and just the way I like it. I was getting so into it that I actually was moving in my chair when a punch came at me. The story was pretty interesting but was sort of short. I am having a lot of fun with the challenge mode though. I didn't find any bugs but there were a few things that needed work. I was also confused by the ending of the game.

Somethings I thought needed work:
- Having the ability to put the weapon away even when I wasn't locked on would have been nice.
- Also the ability to cancel reloading so I could hit a guy coming at me.
- The lock on system could sometimes get annoying with a lot of guys on the screen.
- The dual fish guns sound effect needed more oomph. It just didn't sound big enough. All of the other guns though did have a good sound.

Things I liked:
- The combat is awesome.
- Aside from the confusing ending, the story was pretty interesting.
- The graphics were great.
- The other guns were really fun to use.
- The challenge mode is a lot of fun.

Now if only the game was open ended like morrowind or oblivion, then it would have been perfect.
Over all I give it a 9/10.

I greatly enjoyed the game and thought that it was amazing for a first big game from the company. The story and fighting was awseome as well as almost everything else. I also enjoyed that you put in a boss that didn't completaly rely on punching, kicking and bashing. I had wished that the game would be more free roaming with more weapons, enemies and areas although I thought that the setting was diverse enough. I think that it is a fantastic game for a low budget and can't wait for the sequel.

I enjoyed your game a lot, ACE Team wink.gif

Looking forward your next game !
