We are totally thrilled at ACE Team to be at last sharing the first look of our most ambitious project yet, and sequel to our cherished debut game that introduced us to the gaming world: Zeno Clash 2. We hope everyone enjoys this first look into our fantastic world through this brief teaser that hints a few events that will unfold in bizarre land of Zenozoik:

Like with the predecessor we'll be monitoring these forums regularly and keeping in touch with the fans, so if you've been waiting for this moment for a long time step up and let us know what you think! smile.gif

I am very excited. Very very excited.

Am I allowed to ask any questions? If so, here goes.

How will the open world work? Will you have a large area to explore at leisure?

Who does the other person play as in co-op?

Will there be side-quests?

Are there any RPG elements to it?

Any other info which you can give us?

Ace Team is back with something new to show!

And you know what that means?

The evil little parasites like me are back too!

WOOO!

Now, for the trailer:

Notes of concern:

1.) The voice actress of Rimat. From the trailer, it sounds as weak as Deadra was. Here's to hoping I'm wrong. smile.gif

2.) Speaking of which, where is our favorite horn-stylin' lady?

3.) The Music is out there, dripping with atmosphere, but there is something the plot (well, what little we can find in the trailer) that feels....I dunno, I wouldn't say less than what I was hoping for, but more grounded, if you know what I mean... Ofcourse, we can but wait and see!

Notes of awesomenessnessness:

1.) The Environment - The shadowlands look amazing. Not to mention the dalí hills! biggrin.gif

2.) Coop campaign. ORLY? O.O

3.) As mentioned previously, the music.

4.) The universe seems to keep it's complexity, no black and white villians... Huzzah!
-------------

Now, is there anything for us fans to do, besides pissing ourselves in anticipation and waiting for the next trailer? tongue.gif

Also, we, the PC'd ones wont get left behind this time, right?...Right? q.q

Absolutely not. All builds are being developed in parallel, so no one is getting left behind. And with the ease of patching and updating on Steam it's very likely many of the post-release content will first show up on PC (just like with Rock of Ages).

Yes the environments can be explored freely, but you have to travel from one area to another in conjunction with your partner if you play in coop. The game is not linear.

Rimat

Absolutely! smile.gif

Also confirmed! I can't get into any details yet, but it's part of the new design.

This is great news! I was actually the first viewer of your video on youtube! And I found out about the first game just about a month ago, so I guess my timing was quite good. My questions are the same as my predessesors: will there be any rpg elements, and how open will the world be? Also, the story seems to be less interesting for now oncompared to what was in the first trailer.

You'll have to wait before we release more information about the story and world. What we've shown so far is just a very small hint of the events that will unfold, and the story will have important developments beyond that.

Okay... more questions...

What engine does this run on? Source again or something else?

Will Deadra make a return at all?

Will players be able to use all the old moves right off the bat?

Is Patricio Meneses still doing the music?

Will there be any moral decisions in this game? As in, can you be good or evil?

How does the dialogue work?

I can answer at least one question in there: The game is run by the Unreal Engine 3. smile.gif

Besides that, though, I'm just as curious as you are, Gentleman, albeit they did say that we'll have to wait for a bit. At the very least until the gameplay is shown at E3. smile.gif

Unreal Engine 3

Will Deadra make a return at all?

Yes, definitely, but she won't tag along like in the previous game.

QUOTE (Gentleman @ Jun 4 2012, 03:12 PM) *

The backbone of the fighting system includes all the previous move sets, so veteran players should pick-up right away.

Is Patricio Meneses still doing the music?

Absolutely! Zeno Clash, Rock of Ages, Zeno Clash 2 and every other game we'll be making! smile.gif

QUOTE (Gentleman @ Jun 4 2012, 03:12 PM) *

Not really. This is something you tend to see in RPGs with a very different structure. Think of our character development more like a Zelda game.

It's still too early to discuss RPG elements in detail. We'll be showing more of this during the months to come.

Wow, amazing. I recently picked this game up and wasn't really expecting to have a sequel be announced so soon! But I'm happy for it! I've beat ZC1 twice and working on my third time. I can't wait for the sequel to come, I'm so happy you guys stayed in touch with the fans and listened. The fact I'll be able to roam the lands of Zenoziok is amazing. I'm really looking forward to this. smile.gif Anyway, Rimat's voice acting isn't too great. Deadra's wasn't either but it grew on me and was overlookable. Other than that it looked great. I can't wait for a full trailer and better yet to play the game. Oh and some questions which you probably can't answer yet lol.

Will you be announcing a release date or even a date for the full trailer?

Will there be a longer main quest? Not counting all the side quests and sweet exploring I'll be doing.

Will there be more weapons/ firearms than in ZC1?

Also, will this be available on Steam when it is released?

Not yet. We're still in pre-alpha, so patience guys.

We're actually mostly working on the main quest now - we still have decisions and a lot to do with regards to side quests. Obviously don't expect the variety and amount of quests of a big RPG of a major studio. This is an indie game and a downloadable game.

Yes, but our focus is much more on improving the melee combat than the guns.

I still can't understand why so many people dislike Deadra's voice acting in the first game, i thought it was much better than some of the other characters, but that's just me (of course I respect you guys at ACE Teams decision to change it for the ultimate edition) I just got used to it over my many play-through's i guess lolo :D

I also liked the voice of Daedra, she felt, I dunno... natural. Most of the games tend to use cinematic-epic style voices, Daedra felt more realistic and close.
As for the questions:
-Will our characters level up? I'm not sure if I would like it unsure.gif
-Is there any chance to get a boxed copy of the game? I would love to have Zeno Clash 2 in my hands.
-Will we know more about ZC2 during the E3?
-Is Golem still playing with Rubik's cube? tongue.gif

There will be a form of leveling, but it won't be restrictive like some RPGs that prevent you from performing actions until you reach a specific level. It'll work towards stats. I don't want to get too much into it yet though.

Edmundo is over there with a brief demo showcasing an early implementation of our combat system in two different environments. If the press does any sort of interview or provides feedback we'll link it here.

Great, that's what I wanted to hear! biggrin.gif
I guess it's something in the way of the old (previous to sixth) Might & Magic games.
Can't wait to know more about the game

Stat based? That's too bad sad.gif I don't like how games rely on leveling for "progression". The best progression is actually getting better at the game, overcoming the increasingly difficult challenges the game throws at you, wich I had in Zeno Clash. I feel a level system kind of reduces the feeling of getting better at the game, instead, your numbers just got higher.
In rpgs I always get afraid of leveling too much because it might make me too strong and thus ruin the challenge. This makes me skip enemies. However, I'd really like to take my time with this game and explore every square inch, but then I might run into more enemies and level up too much. I hope I won't have to choose between challenge and exploring.
I have no doubt it'll be a great game though, you showed how competent you guys are with Zeno Clash.

I have read that the environments can be freely explored, so I guess the stats will be a way to mantain restricted some areas.
