Hey. When ever I try to launch hammer with "run_hammer.bat, I get an error saying:

Setup file 'gameinfo.txt doesn't exist in subdirectory 'c:\program
files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\zenozoik'.
Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting.

Any suggestions?

I realize it says "Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting", but
where am I supposed to find those? In the GameConfig file? I'm new to this thing.

Maybe try changing the paths in zenoclash\bin\GameConfig.cfg from \Program Files\ to Program Files (x86)\
I'd also check that zenoclash\zenozoik\scripts\gameinfo.txt exists and isn't corrupt.

Did you run the .bat file?

EDIT: Trash that, I can't read.

This file "gameinfo.txt" already exist when you install the game itself , is imposible that you don't have it, I think the problem is the path "c:\programfiles(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\zenozoik".
Also check if all paths in the file "/bin/gameconfig.txt" are correct.
Check it please and tell me if you still have that problem.

Ok, I changed the path in the GameConfig.txt file in the bin folder to

"c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\zenozoik\scripts" for hammer.

When I run the hammer.bat file I get a window asking to chose which game to configure(DODS, Hl2 ep2, portal, and Zenozoik. Which is Zeno Clash.) I chose Zenozoik but when I click OK I get the same error again..

Your GameConfig.txt must have ONLY this lines:

CODE
"Configs"
{
    "Games"
    {
        "Zenozoik"
        {
            "GameDir"        "c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\zenozoik"
            "Hammer"
            {
                "GameData0"        "dev.fgd"
                "GameData1"        "zenozoik.fgd"
                "TextureFormat"        "5"
                "MapFormat"        "4"
                "DefaultTextureScale"        "0.250000"
                "DefaultLightmapScale"        "16"
                "GameExe"        "c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\zenozoik.exe"
                "DefaultSolidEntity"        "func_detail"
                "DefaultPointEntity"        "info_player_start"
                "BSP"        "vbsp.exe"
                "Vis"        "vvis.exe"
                "Light"        "vrad.exe"
                "GameExeDir"        "$zenoclashdir"
                "MapDir"        "c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\mapsrc"
                "BSPDir"        "c:\program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\zenozoik\maps"
                "CordonTexture"        "tools\toolsskybox"
                "MaterialExcludeCount"        "0"
            }
        }
    }
    "SDKVersion"        "3"
}

This file MUST BE in you BIN folder, in your case will be here :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\zenoclash\bin

And Done!
That should resolve the problem wink.gif

So am I supposed to copy this into my gameconfig file, and delete the previous stuff that was in there before?(DOD,TF2,Portal EP2). I backed up my original gameconfig and made a new one and copyed those lines in it and I still get the same error.

I searched for the gameinfo.txt and I got a couple of them. The one I think I'm looking for is in the dev folder.
It has this:

"GameInfo"
{
game "SDK"
title "SDK'"
type singleplayer_only

FileSystem
{
SteamAppId 220 // This will mount all the GCFs we need (240=CS:S, 220=HL2).
ToolsAppId 211 // Tools will load this (ie: source SDK caches) to get things like materials\debug, materials\editor, etc.

//
// The code that loads this file automatically does a few things here:
//
// 1. For each "Game" search path, it adds a "GameBin" path, in <dir>\bin
// 2. For each "Game" search path, it adds another "Game" path in front of it with _<langage> at the end.
// For example: c:\hl2\cstrike on a french machine would get a c:\hl2\cstrike_french path added to it.
// 3. For the first "Game" search path, it adds a search path called "MOD".
// 4. For the first "Game" search path, it adds a search path called "DEFAULT_WRITE_PATH".
//

//
// Search paths are relative to the base directory, which is where hl2.exe is found.
//
// |gameinfo_path| points at the directory where gameinfo.txt is.
// We always want to mount that directory relative to gameinfo.txt, so
// people can mount stuff in c:\mymod, and the main game resources are in
// someplace like c:\program files\valve\steam\steamapps\half-life 2.
//
SearchPaths
{
Game |gameinfo_path|.
Game dev
}
}
}

Also my GameConfig.txt is in my bin folder.

And is the gameinfo.txt supposed to be "GameInfo.txt(with caps)" or "gameinfo.txt(no caps)"?

I realize that all your problems are because you maybe not read the instruction of making a new mod in our wiki:
Setting_up_a_new_mod Tutorial

Please follow this steps, there you will find where to put all files in correct folders.
If you still have problem, please tell me, I'm sure we can find a solution for any problem here. wink.gif

These are different instructions than the one I had read(http://wiki.aceteam.cl/index.php?title=How_to_install).

Sorry if this an obvious question, but are these instructions for launching hammer or my own mod? I'm new to the whole editing/hammer stuff. I followed the instructions and when I launch the bat file I created I get an error:

"Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'mod'
Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting"

Maybe I followed the instructions wrong. Hmm.. this doesn't want to work for me :/

This instructions are for make a new mod (like a full conversion), the other tutorials explain how to install and configure the editor.

I think you miss this one:
3 - Open the "zenozoik" folder and copy "GameInfo.txt" to your mod folder ("mymod")

Is the same "GameInfo.txt" file, who is en folder zenozoik, the one you must copy to your mod folder.
Don't worry if you still have problems, you can post every problem here and we will help you. smile.gif

And that file is in the mod folder right?
so, your folders and files are like this:

folders

bin
dev
mapsrc
mod
platform
zenozoik

Files

run_deb.bat
run_hammer.bat
run_hlmv
run_mod.bat
run_studiomdl.bat
steam_appid.txt
ZenoClash.exe

If they are not organized like this, then you will have problems.

I think I finally fixed the problem, with mymod at least. The folder was called "mymod" and it should have been called "mod". So I renamed it. And I changed the file paths in the GameConfig file(in bin) that had "mymod"
So I can launch "run_mod" (or in my case "mymod"). But when I try to launch "run_hammer.bat" I get an error saying:

"Setup file 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in subdirectory 'c\program
files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\zenoclash\mod'.
Check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting"

And there are some differences between the file list you posted and mine. Mine has a "config" folder that contains a "MasterServers" VDF file and i don't have the "run_studiomdl.bat" file
