Most of the source mods that I played involving melee combat turned out atrocious. Even Counter-Strike had horrible knifing registry. How did you guys manage to pull it off with the source engine?

Ufff... that's such a big question. So much prototyping here. Even after all the effort, the hit detection is still a bit funky at times.

We completely disregarded what Source had implemented for their melee weapons. We had to create this from scratch. The lock-on system is a big part of the melee system's success.
