Whenever I launch Rock of Ages (PC), a black screen appears (as if the game is about to work) and then it all collapses and says 'RoA.exe has stopped working'. Normally these issues are easy to bypass but this one is really getting on my nerves. I have scoured all the forums and threads regarding this issue but still I have found no solution. Believe me I have tried everything that people are recommending whether it be graphics driver updates, DX updates, config changes, reinstalling steam, reinstalling the game, verifying game cache, defragmenting cache and NOTHING is working.

I am asking you, Ace Team, as a man on the verge of madness, help me out.

Regards,

sprayframe.

Yes of course. I fear that there may be something wrong with my Direct X installation - but there's no way of reinstalling it without reinstalling the whole OS. However, I never see any DX errors during installations. Is there a way to check the log when I try and start Rock of Ages?

You could try running the DirectX installer again (I believe it's at steamapps\common\rock of ages\Prerequisites\DirectX\DXSetup.exe).
Not sure about a log though; I'm not familiar with the Unreal engine or how to check its output.

I suggest you look through the Steam forum threads. There's a lot of people that had Direct X installation issues and found a solution:

I've had a look at that forum, I couldn't really understand what the person did when they found a DX fix. They seemed a bit inspecific about how they managed to do it. Could you simplify it?
