My first question is, being in Chile, do the programmers at ACE Team need to use English in the coding, or is it possible to code in Spanish? (I know very little about programming in general, only that in the stuff I've seen words are put in lines of code(?) and I wondered if it needed to be in English).
My other question is with so many of you guys either working at universities or attending them, do your students ever recognize your work? (This is mostly directed at Andres, but if anyone else has cool stories of being recognized for being an ACE Team member, that would be amazing as well). |

I can step in and say that I was once recognized by a guy behind a desk at a computer sales store.
We're obviously recognized when we go to places where we are speakers or in conferences... but many people do because you've been previously announced. However many students do know ACE Team's work and I did get a couple of students in conferences who wanted me to sign a boxed version of Zeno Clash. ACE Team does have some reputation here amongst gamers, and many people know about us. But I definitely don't walk through a University and girls start screaming 'look its an ACE member... ahhhh! About the programming: We all speak English, but I'm not a programmer so I guess the lines of code which are comments (which describe functions of the code) are generally in English. But I'm sure there's a lot of 'Spanglish' in our scripts / code / asset names /etc. |

I vaguely recall a Spanish comment in a .vmt somewhere but I can't remember specifically.

Cool avatar sir!
About your questions: Only comments in the code can be in 'regular languages' (but that's not actual code). If you're writing in C++ or a scripting language you have to perfectly adhere to the syntax, which should barely resemble any spoken language. As for being recognized locally it's pretty much what Carlos said: there's a lot of people that have played our games and know what we're doing, but this is the people that's interested in game development and have followed our progress through different channels, like the internet and sometimes magazine or newspaper interviews. But most of the casual Chilean gamers probably aren't aware of Zeno Clash/ACE Team and only relate to big IPs. |

Thanks for the timely responses, and the comment on my avatar
I have another question now: Is there any way to talk Patricio Meneses about how he made the OSTs for RoA and Zeno Clash? I am curious about the technical stuff like key signatures and what instruments used accidentals where. Of course, he may not care to divulge info like that, but I figured here is as good a place as any to ask about it if I can't figure out how to contact him on my own. |

Oh, those sound like pretty technical questions -nothing that I could help you with... Patricio doesn't visit the forums. Actually, I have a hard time getting him to check e-mail!
