Hi Everyone.
Earlier today i was just about to start downloading Zeno Clash, illigally i must admit, when i read a comment on the *X-website* torrent from Carlos Bordeu. It was a great comment and i enden up buying the game through steam. Afterwards i found myself wishing that there were included paypal or equivalent information in the comment. I would rather had downloaded the torrent and make sure you got the full amount, than buying through steam and have them take a siezeable amount, i assume. Anyway, the steam download is on 61% and i look forward to play the game. Edit by cbordeu: name of the torrent website... |

Hi PzyCow. Generally we don't accept people talking about piracy on our threads, but in this case I can make an exception.
We don't mind that you purchase the game through Steam. It's fair that Valve gets compensation for their part in the creation of Zeno Clash. We're using their engine and distribution system, so we have no problems with this. I appreciate that you decided to buy the game. Zeno Clash's sales will be our single source of income and that will be the deciding factor of whether we can continue making a game like this in the future. We are a small independent team and have no publisher backing us up financially... that is why I wrote the message. |

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I think you can find out IP addresses of those are you downloading the game and send letters to their ISPs asking to remove the said users from the net. Mentioning that if they don't comply with your request you, as copy right holders, will be able to prosecute them.
This might work. |

The comment I'm putting out on all torrent places seems to have some effect (though it might be minimal). Several users replied saying they would not pirate the game or that they would buy it. Here's the original message anyways. Anyone is free to copy and paste it on my behalf on any torrent or pirate forum that they find. I actually encourage it.... ------------------ I'm one of the developers of Zeno Clash. I would appreciate you read this if you are about to download this file. Zeno Clash is an independently funded game by a very small and sacrificed group of people. The only way in which we can continue making games like this (or a sequel) is to have good sales. I am aware that at this moment there is still no demo of the game, but we are working on one which will be available soon. We cannot do anything to stop piracy of the game (and honestly don't intend to do so) but if you are downloading because you wish to try before you buy, I would ask that you purchase the game (and support the independent game development scene) if you enjoy it. We plan on updating Zeno Clash with DLC and continuing support for the game long after it's release. Thanks for taking the time to read this... hopefully it will make a difference. Ohh, wasn't aware that it was made on the steam engine, then i guess its fair enough
Anyways i have tried the game now, and Good Job ACE. I love melee fighting games but its soo hard to get it right. This game has though, and it's almost in the same league as Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and Path of Neo, which imo has been the best games in the genre so far. And the artwork and characters is just amazing, dont even know how to start on that. Ahh well i gotta get back to the game. Edit: Ohh and i spread your words to some of the torrent sites out there. |
