Alright...I've played through this game a few times now and recently, I had an Idea when I was fighting those "statues" or "shadows". They are/were an advanced ancient civilization that has been all around Zenozoik, and therefor knew about the entire world and things OUTSIDE Halstedom(as opposed to its citizens). Golem is the last of them. And by "ending it all" he meant educating the citizens of Halstedom about the outside world. The Rubik's Cube is a sign of the fact that they were far ahead of their time, and so was the electricity at the end of the world.
How I got this Idea: Golem has all that armor on his back, which was probably a regular outfit in that civilization and I recall seeing similar armor on those statues. Devs, please tell me that I am on to something here, or that I am at least HALF right. Postscript:Tell my why Golem is a voodoo doll -------------------- ![]() "Thehehehhehe!" -Animasta "GREABSLADSBAEWNME!" -Gastornis,charging into an elbow, head first. |

*** WARNING: Lots of spoilers - Don't read if you haven't finished the game! *** Alright... I just finished the game (for the first time). And naturally, I have a lot of questions about things, including Golem. So, here's what we know: 1. When Golem is hurt, the following people are also hurt: Ghat, Deadra, Father-Mother. 2. This means Golem has some important connection to Ghat, Deadra and Father-Mother. But what??? After the first 'shared pain' incident (Hunter fight), I wondered whether, maybe, Ghat and Deadra were *real* brother and sister and Golem was their father. But this theory is basically ruined by F-M being part of the equation. Hmm, anyway... 3. In the final cutscene, we see a black-skinned figure who looks very similar to Golem. This figure also has a Rubik's Cube and is watching something through a telescope. Okay, so who is this character? Could it be Golem himself, stripped down to a g-string and returned to his native environment (The End of the World)? Hmm... I don't think so. I think Golem is what his name suggests. He is just a construct, controlled by the mysterious character seen in this final cutscene. This character has placed Golem on the 'Throne' specifically so he can be discovered by Ghat, who will then go with him back to Halstedom. So why does this character want this to happen? Ah... Currently I have no idea As for the Rubik's cube... It is an odd item. It's not just an item from a different culture or tech level - It's specifically an item from Earth. But I don't think too much should be read into this. Edmundo said in a different thread that he wanted to put something 'plastic' and 'alien' in there, and that this worked perfectly. Of course, when Golem completes the puzzle at the end, it's symbolic. F-M's secret has finally been revealed (i.e. That particular puzzle is solved) but also Golem appears to have achieved his aim (which seems to involve meeting up with Ghat, Deadra and F-M and getting into Halstedom). I don't think the Rubik's cube holds any power itself - It's just a symbol. [ Though, if you like, you could imagine that every time Golem rotates his Rubik's cube, the 'dark master's' duplicate cube might rotate as well. Therefore, it could be a communication device - When the cube is solved, it's a message to the master - "Mission accomplished." ] Anyway, that's enough for now. If anyone else has theories, or even some facts (*hint* *hint* ACE Team!), I'd love to hear them |

1. When Golem is hurt, the following people are also hurt: Ghat, Deadra, Father-Mother. The hurting thing does not necessarily mean a connection between these characters. Notice how Golem actually touches FM in the last level. If Edmundo wants to explain more... he has to step in this thread. He's the story writer, and I might be seriously injured if I give away sensible information. |

The hurting thing does not necessarily mean a connection between these characters. Notice how Golem actually touches FM in the last level. And look at F-M's reaction! QUOTE If Edmundo wants to explain more... he has to step in this thread. He's the story writer, and I might be seriously injured if I give away sensible information. Well, I don't want to get you injured. And I'm not even sure if I want answers. It's often better to leave things to the audience's imagination. But if Edmundo wants to drop a few *hints*...? |
