Alright...I've played through this game a few times now and recently, I had an Idea when I was fighting those "statues" or "shadows". They are/were an advanced ancient civilization that has been all around Zenozoik, and therefor knew about the entire world and things OUTSIDE Halstedom(as opposed to its citizens). Golem is the last of them. And by "ending it all" he meant educating the citizens of Halstedom about the outside world. The Rubik's Cube is a sign of the fact that they were far ahead of their time, and so was the electricity at the end of the world.
How I got this Idea: Golem has all that armor on his back, which was probably a regular outfit in that civilization and I recall seeing similar armor on those statues. Devs, please tell me that I am on to something here, or that I am at least HALF right. Postscript:Tell my why Golem is a voodoo doll -------------------- ![]() "Thehehehhehe!" -Animasta "GREABSLADSBAEWNME!" -Gastornis,charging into an elbow, head first. |

Yes, I also think it's good to leave some things to the audience's imagination, this topic and all the imaginative/meaningful explanations are proof of that! In that sense, all the explanations here are as correct as my own.
But, I don't think there is much harm in revealing which explanations are compatible with what I have thought for a second chapter of Zeno Clash... "They are/were an advanced ancient civilization that has been all around Zenozoik, and therefor knew about the entire world and things OUTSIDE Halstedom(as opposed to its citizens). ... by "ending it all" he meant educating the citizens of Halstedom about the outside world. The Rubik's Cube is a sign of the fact that they were far ahead of their time, and so was the electricity at the end of the world." I remember during the boat rider scene Golem mentioned that several of the statue-people were 'Not dead. Broken.' As in they were something that was not alive and no longer functions. So they may not be living beings at all, but some kind of construct. I think the statues were there to keep Golem asleep, and to keep people out. Thats why when a candle is lit they do their best to blow it out again and again. Golem also has a strong dislike for the Corwids, which may hint at the ideals Golem, one of them being pursuit of knowledge As for the Rubik's cube... It is an odd item. It's not just an item from a different culture or tech level - It's specifically an item from Earth. But I don't think too much should be read into this. Edmundo said in a different thread that he wanted to put something 'plastic' and 'alien' in there ...when Golem completes the puzzle at the end, it's symbolic. F-M's secret has finally been revealed (i.e. That particular puzzle is solved) but also Golem appears to have achieved his aim... it could be a communication device - When the cube is solved, it's a message to the master - The hurting thing does not necessarily mean a connection between these characters. The Golem has the power to choose what people are "bound" to him, it is true he has been near Deadra, Ghat and that he touches Father-Mother in the final level. It might be a way he has to control things... While people in the story were tied by natural bonds (family or affection) Golem brings new artificial bonds: his power, or (and here I am hinting stuff about a next chapter) "ideals" which also have binding power among those who share them... and I better stop here before Carlos attacks me for revealing too much |
